Mechanical Engineer - Photonics and Optics - Torquay - AH80 Salary/ Benefits: £Negotiable, DoE Job Term: Full Time/Permanent Job Outline: I am now recruiting for a photonics and optics market leader, whom focus on cutting-edge communications equipment. Due to consistent growth, a new position has arisen for an experienced mechanical engineer with a strong background in finite element analysis. The successful candidate will be responsible for actively driving product development and R&D projects forwards, through design and analysis work. You will be responsible for providing 3D designs, conducting thermal and stress analysis as well as developing and executing test plans for environmental verification. The role requires a good appreciation of current manufacturing techniques, as you will be expected to design components and assemblies utilizing DFM techniques. This will include creating manufacturing drawings and handing-over completed projects to the manufacturing team. As you will be acting as the interface point between multiple disciplines, you must be able to effectively communicate your findings to team members. This includes recoding any design and development findings in line with ISO9001 Standards. Qualifications & Experience: The successful candidate will hold a Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, or an equivalent science and engineering subject. 3D CAD and FEA experience is essential, and candidates will preferably have experience using SolidWorks and/or COMSOL Multiphysics. Knowledge on testing and qualification based on Military or Telecoms standards would be highly advantageous. Additional Information: Candidates MUST be eligible to work and live in the UK.
