Programme Leader – Access to Higher Education
Full time lecturer – Healthcare and Science: Access to HE Programme Leader
Salary: £21,534 -£34,757 plus excellent benefits
Due to staff retirement and a member of staff reducing hours, we have an opportunity to join the science team in the Faculty of Maths and Science.
The faculty was awarded grade 1 in the Ofsted inspection in 2014 and is internally assessed as grade 1. We deliver a range of maths and science courses at levels two and three and boast excellent progress and success rates.
This role is primarily within the Access to HE pathways for Healthcare or Science but might involve some delivery in other Level 3 science courses depending upon student application numbers.
The successful applicant(s) would also be a personal tutor to a group of learners.
The Access to HE pathway offers an intensive one year Level 3 course to 19+ learners who are motivated and focused on their progression routes, often taking advantage of this course as a “second chance” to fulfil their academic potential.
You will be managed and supported by the Access Coordinator who is highly experienced and leads a well-resourced and cooperative team. You will also have a mentor and a faculty-based Learning Lead as well as support for tutoring from a Lead Tutor. The faculty is mainly based in new purpose-built facilities in the Maths and Science Centre.
The Programme Leader aspect of the role involves taking responsibility for an element of the work of the team, for example an element within the Access course, but overall coordination sits with the Team Leader.
We are looking for either a full time teacher who can deliver mainly chemistry or biochemistry units within the Access course.
We would consider splitting the role to appoint two part time lecturers. We are seeking to appoint candidates with the greatest ability, enthusiasm and commitment to excellence in the classroom. If you fit the bill and are passionate to teach within this thriving college, your application will be welcome! Please specify
if you are looking for part time or full time hours in your supporting statement.
Successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure by the DBS.
We do not accept CV’s, no agencies please.
Exeter College is committed to promoting equality of opportunity and access for all, irrespective of age, background, race, gender, religion, ability, disability or sexuality. We welcome applications for employment from the whole community.
