Developer - up to £400/day - 6 month contract - Plymouth Security Clearance: Must already hold BPSS DS or be willing to undergo Please note: This role has been deemed to fall in-scope of IR35 We have an exciting opportunity to join a multi-skilled team within the Solution Group's Software Development Team. The post holder will work closely with the Senior Software Developers and external SMEs in building and delivering solutions that will enable the organisation to streamline business processes while offering support for new and existing business applications. Key responsibilities: Build products to serve a variety of end-users' needs, including citizens, from supplied specifications, using agreed standards, to achieve a well-engineered result. Create, amend and keep track of programs in accordance with the design. Implement APIs for internal and external use. Plan, design and conduct tests of programs; correct errors and re-test to achieve an error-free result utilising continuous integration and automated testing. Create appropriate level of documentation relevant to the work in accordance with agreed standards. Takes part in quality assurance reviews of own and others' work according to agreed plans and in line with site standards to ensure well engineered, fit-for-purpose products. Translate logical designs into physical designs taking account of target environment, performance requirements and existing systems. Actively engages with the wider software engineering community to identify good practices we can adopt and adapt, and share own experiences with that community. Share knowledge of tools and techniques with multi skilled team members, and the wider team. Work with cross functional teams, assisting the Senior Developers to translate business requirements into technical specifications, providing impact assessments on proposals, identifying and managing risks to meet business needs. Take part in 2nd-line support of applications and platforms, including occasional support outside of office hours Accountable for: Accountable for the quality, accuracy and timeliness of their program code and completeness of evidence of appropriate testing. Accountable for the artifacts produced as part of development effort. Accountable for following approved processes, procedures and standards. Accountable to: The Product Manager and other team members of the work package(s) on which they are engaged, for all aspects of their workload (including timeliness, quality and exhibited behaviours).
