Mechanical Fitters Astra Recruitment, in partnership with Wolf Minerals Ltd, are now looking for Mechanical Fitters to work on-site as part of the Maintenance team. The right person will become a crucial player in the Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical and Site Services team, acting to support company operations at Drakelands Mine, based on the outskirts of Plympton, Plymouth. Wolf Minerals are a 24-7 operation with permission to continue operations until 2036. With strong links to the local community and global customers, Wolf Minerals are well positioned to be a major part of Plymouth's successful economic future. With approximately 120 direct employees at Drakelands Mine, Wolf Minerals has a friendly compact feel. Mechanical Fitter Role The job responsibilities of the Mechanical Fitter is to act upon routine, preventative and corrective maintenance of equipment in the site's mineral processing plant and other areas of the mine when applicable. Working to Wolf values, the Mechanical Fitter has a duty to continue the high standards set by the Maintenance team and to make effective use of the software provided to log all details of performing tasks. Due to the testing environment and the very nature of the work involved, this 'hands on' role requires somebody with a stubborn attitude towards health and safety, and the ability to liaise with others to ensure risk assessments are carried out. As much of the work is tackled in a fast paced setting, Wolf Minerals need active members of the Engineering team, and people who possess a 'can-do' approach to problem solving when confronted with breakdowns or other similar events on-site. The successful candidate also has a responsibility to ensure the mechanical area of the workshop is kept up to 5S standards of organisation and tidiness. There will also be a responsibility involving locking-out procedures, which are always followed by Wolf, contracted technicians and tradesmen. Consideration for the future prosperity of the mine is also required by Wolf. As a key member of the Maintenance team, it is part of the Mechanical Fitter's responsibility to contribute to shareholder value by highlighting efficiency gains and displaying general cost awareness (training provided). As a recap: Essential - Indentured Mechanical Tradesman / NVQIII (or equivalent mechanical discipline). - Experience working in similar industrial fixed plant maintenance. - Strong mechanical problem solving skills. - Familiarity with CMMS systems and reporting. - Strong analytical skills and process focus. - Tenacity and energy in contributing to change toward a high performing work environment. - Communicates effectively with others. - Team player with a 'can do' attitude. Desirable - Cross-Skilling to Electrical Qualification. - Welding experience. - Mineral processing experience. - Experience in maintaining: Crushers, Screens, Pumps, Conveyors, Ball Mills, Spiral Separators, Shaking Tables.
